Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

For more information about compulsory school attendance, visit:

Download the Kambora Public School attendance policy (PDF 600KB) for more information.

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.

The Kambora Student Behaviour and Management Plan is designed to promote a positive school environment for all students and staff.

The Kambora BYOD Policy advices students and parents on bringing electronical devices to use at Kambora Public School for educational purposes.

The Kambora BYOD student agreement (PDF 348KB) must be read by both students and their parents and/or guardians for a fuller understanding of  how to responsibly use electronical devices at school.

The Kambora PS Sport Procedures ensures all students are provided with opportunities to participate in a range of sporting activities and programs suitable for their ability and interests. Sport assists in the development of a healthy lifestyle by promoting physical activity.

The Kambora homework policy (PDF 195KB) is based on the guidelines laid down by the NSW Department of Education. This mostly focuses on outlining the purpose of homework, type of work set, organisation and student expectations.

All students are asked to co-sign the Kambora computer education code of conduct (PDF 536KB) with the school in order to use and access the school’s computers and other technology.

The Kambora special religious education policy (PDF 682KB) is based on the education reform act 1990, which requires all government schools to allow for the provision of special religious education (often called scripture) by authorised religious persuasions during part of the school week.
